Some Example Blogs With the Plugin:
Why I Wrote It
- The Plugin began as my final project for a PHP/MySQL Course at Front Range Community College during the Fall, 2008 semester.
- Goals of the project:
- Develop a PHP program with MySQL database storage and retrieval.
- Integrate with an external API to request and receive data on demand.
- Show a live demo in class.
How The Plugin Has Evolved
- Initial preparation of the Plugin for WordPress included:
- Creating a specially formatted readme.txt file.
- Creating an options page for users to enter settings.
- Adding a 2-hour caching mechanism to optimize performance.
- Over time, additional features have been added including:
- Internationalizing the Plugin for multiple languages. Currently, 10 languages are supported.
- Adding an embedded version number, which has been very helpful when assisting users with questions and feature requests.
I hope you find the plugin helpful. If you have questions or comments, please let me know.
Thanks, Neil
